European Telework Information Day 1999

Brussels, 1 June 1999

Telework continues to develop into a normal way of working. By developing into a more main stream practice, it is now becoming even more urgent to assess the impact of the de-localisation of work, supported by new technologies and a change in work culture, on our economy, working and private life, and society at large, in order to better understand where we would go, and to take action in order to get there.

The European Information Day on 1 June is an opportunity to be updated on the European Commission's policy, information and stimulation activities with regard to telework and to preview the European Telework Status Report for 1999. It is also the official public launch of Telework Week 1999, and the Call for Nominations for the 1999 Telework Awards.

Participation to the Information Day is free. However, capacity is limited. Therefor you are requested to register your interest for participation beforehand. You can do that by registration on-line at http://www.etw.org , or by fax reply form to (+032-2-2962981). A confirmation of your registration will be sent to you on reception.

If you have any plans to deploy an initiative for European Telework Week (1 - 7 November 1999), I would appreciate it if you could send a short outline well beforehand to info@etw.org . This would allow us to include your event in an overview of early announced events to be handed out to all participants.

Since June is only 2 weeks before the close of the 1st Call for Proposals under the 5th Framework Programme for European RTD we would also like to provide you with a -last minute- platform for short announcements, calls for partners etc. Please send your short comment well beforehand to telework@dg13.cec.be. This would allow us to include it in a paper to be handed out to all participants. Do not forget to include your contact details!

You can find the agenda for the event on the back of this note. In order to obtain the latest version, please go to http://www.eto.org.uk/agenda/telework/iday99.htm .

With kind regards,

Maarten Botterman
