National Telework Web Sites One of a set of pages providing commented links to telework related web sites. For each link we show: the date the linked site was last visited by a member of the ETO Site Team a link to other users' comments, where available an invitation for you to comment on the sites we have linked Your comments are warmly welcomed and will be very helpful to the site team and to other users - or you can choose for your comments to be seen only by the ETO Site Team. At the foot of the page you will also find an opportunity for you to add another site for listing in these pages. Thanks for your help in making this a valuable resource for all users. In selecting sites to be listed as National Telework Web Sites we would usually expect the site to provide links to other telework resources in its country on an open, non-discrimating basis and to provide useful information about telework in the country concerned. Desirably, sites should also offer a "notice board" capability for use on an open basis to announce events and happenings relating to telework. European Telework Online can assist development of national sites. Telework associations, companies or groups wishing to establish a national telework website are invited to contact ETO to discuss this. These are the sites currently known to us: ALTA Alta, Luxembourg Téléactivités Association, is devoted primarily to the promotion and the development of the new forms of organization of work as well as to the evolution of new Information and Communication technologies. Currently information is in French only. There is a discussion list, open to non-members, and pages of links to French, European and international sites. Mainly in French. The site lacks a FAQ section so you have to search around for the details. Payment is in "Ad$ points" per hour for up to five hours a day. Hour 1 = $0.30, hours 2 through 4 = $0.20, hour 5 = $0.10 (average = $0.20). Referrals are unusual at $2.00 per referral one time commission. Minimum payout is $30 in a "PayPal" account (see separate report). Or you can wait and get $50 by check. There are pages about flexible working; process improvement; organisation development; property strategy; technology strategy; web development. The technology page addresses general guidance about approaches, rather than specific technologies. Last visited 28 February 2000 Add your own comments about this resource Home2Work.com USA-based (and USA-focused) site where job-hunters and employers can post advertisements. One attractive feature is that the types of "classified ads" are clearly categorised and the numbers of ads in each category is shown. However this needs re-thinking for categories reach a high volume of postings. For example there is a category for "Job Listings - Telecommute Full Time/Contract Nationwide" (for USA but not for global telecommuters). At 16 February 2001 this section listed 147 postings, by 1 May 2001 it had split into two, with 242 in one and 59 in the other - quite a task to crawl through on the off-chance that there might be something suitable to your skills. Also there now (May 2001) appear to be two near-identical categories of this type. The first few "full time jobs" we looked at were not paid employment, they were of the "get rich quick" or "run your own business", payment-by-results type. Some ads from people looking for work are mixed in - better editing needed! There are other classes of membership eg telework manager ($125), Consultant ($165), Government/non-profit organisations ($350), Corporate (from $1,000) and Sponsor ($5,000). You can register as a "supplier" or as a "buyer". As a supplier you complete a profile that identifies the kinds of products or services you can provide. The system will email you when new "orders" arrive that appear to match your profile, then you can view the requirement and propose your solution. For services the main system doesn't allow you to see competitors' quotes. For tangible products the buyer can choose between a request for quotation or an open "price contest". There appears to be a regular flow of requests for some services, particularly web design and build. The service appears to be optimised for buyers and sellers who are both in the UK.
